Pavel Ravel

Czech and Juventus midfielder Pavel Nedved refuses to come out of international retirement. With just 2 crucial matches left in the qualifying stages, it is surprising to see him not interested in leading the Czech team to his World Cup.

He cites his age as a reason for his decision. But at 33, he is not too old. Considering that this is his final chance to appear on the big stage at the World Cup next year, I don't think he has made a wise decision.

Nedved talks about winning the Champions League with Juventus and it's a pity the Czech team is not the same without him. His decision just makes me question his pride and commitment for his home country.

its all about money these days....what to do? Maybe he just wants to extend his club career to earn substantially more and/or maybe he feels the Czech's have little chance of winning the World Cup, which would be vey cynical on his part. Either way, its bad news for football with one more star player bowing out.

Aja.

i love when anybody says they are too old at 23. the only sport he should be giving up at that age is women's tennis.
