Great Expectations?

The new season is about to start in a few weeks...here are my predictions...

Henry to emerge EPL top scorer again...Berbatov and Rooney to come close.

C.Ronaldo to get booed at every away game (probably at home games too!)

Chelsea's dominance to continue while Arsenal, ManU and Liverpool fight it out for the 2nd spot.

ManU to have injury crisis again and struggle in the opening few games as usual.

ManU to beat Arsenal, Liverpool at home but struggle against Watford and Reading.

Becks-Ruud partnership to bloom again, this time in La Liga.

Barca's reign to continue in Spain, if Real do not replace Zizou with Kaka.

Berbatov to shine?
Chelsea to fall short of winning the Champions League, again!

At least two of the three new teams to go back straight to the Championship.

Mourinho to get fined by the FA for some crappy comments about players/referees/authorities.

You have any predictions? Let's hear!

Hehe... What a predictions. It sounds true tough.

Ok.. here's my predictions:

I think United will win against Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool but still unable to beat the much lower teams like Blackburn (is it a jinx?), Boro and Manchester City. But United still win the title with Chelsea close at maybe 2 or 3 points.

I think Rooney won't be a top scorer, he is a good striker and he can score loads of goals but he is the type who like to feed his team mates (maybe Tevez or Torres? hehe).

I think henry again will be a top scorer. With the departure of Nistelrooy, he's in his own league now, no competitors. I dont think Sheva will score a lot coz Chelsea is the type of team who like to feed the midfielder. It would be a battle between Lamps and ballack.

Anyway Lucas, i have added your link. Thanks for the exchange, hoping to hear more from you.

Thanks!

Nice analysis there.

Actually they are quite sound. Ruud's departure means Henry's clean sweep continues. And maybe some new signing could pose a big threat to Henry's charts. I'm not counting on Berbatov though. If I had to guess it would be Benni McCarthy.

I think Chelsea is still going to defend their title, but not convincingly. The gap now between the top 3 teams should be closer, if not maybe a matter of goal difference (cheeky prediction I know).

Ballack to overtake Lampard as the leading midfielder in EPL. Shev, in contrast, the FLOP of the year.

I also second the idea of ManU being able to beat Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool but fall at the hands of Blackburn, Portsmouth and maybe even Reading. Also I am prepared to see the scoreline that would humiliate Mourinho through and through.

One more thing. I have this gut feeling that Mourinho could be sacked this season, probably for another episode of his insults/insensitivity. Haha! Mark my words.

@Nuruddeen
Thanks and welcome! u r really such an optimist to think that ManU might pip Chelsea to the title! anyway, i would love if this prediction comes true :)

@Soccerguy
Benni to challenge Henry? very unlikely.
Sheva to flop? can't say that but this guy is a real top quality striker...it would be a real shame if he cannot adjust to the EPL.
Mourinho getting sacked...possible if his team crashes out of Europe a bit too soon like last time. But very highly unlikely!

I hate to say this...

Spurs! Somebody conduct an IT raid on Daniel Levy's house.

I'm tipping Jol to do what Wenger did to Arsenal 10 years back. They will definitely not win the title. Spurs will secure automatic qualification for Europe. Which means someone has to be among the goals, Berbatov and Robbie Keane to get 15+ goals per head. Lennon to scare the Jesus out of wing backs! Zokora to screw up majorly in midfield. But still Dawson and King would stop the breach.

United to be third. Arsenal and Liverpool to fight for familiar territory till the final match of the season.

And yes, Inter to knock Chelsea out of Champions League in Round-2 and Mourinho's imminent sacking.

ManU to beat Liverpool at home and away.

Ballack will injure himself early on in the season.

Real Madrid to challenge Barca for #1.

Wigan to fall into the relegation.

I love your prediction on Benni, soccerguy...

Haha! My prediction is solely based on past seasons' hindsight. There's always this unexpected guy every season to capture the headlines. For instance last season it was Darren Bent. So I thought it could be this guy's turn.

I feel this year's CL might prove as unexpected as how Porto won it a few years back. I'm not hinting a repeat, but with Juve's exclusion this year, we could find it very subdued. Still one club can't make all the difference.

@Lena
I have to agree with u on Wigan...i feel they will find it tough to keep up the momentum from last season...some early losses and they might slip into the danger zone.

Porto's win in the CL was a one-off thing...I will be surprised to see an unfancied team to win this season's CL.

I am happy that AC Milan will play in the CL...without them, the CL loses its sheen. they have always been my fav team in Italy...and, 6 times European champs! Awesome team!

They've also lost some crucial players: namely, Bullard and Roberts.

If Blackburn don't find decent defensive players, I'm afraid they'll also be close to the relegation zone...ugh!

Let the games begin, already!
