Vultures will Swoop Down

Following the match-fixing scandal, Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina have been relegated to Serie B, but AC Milan will remain in the top flight, although they have penalized 15 points for next season.

The outcome...

Juventus
Relegated to Serie B
stripped of the last two Serie A titles
Fine of £50,000
30-point deduction for next season

Lazio
Relegated to Serie B
penalized 7 points for next season

Fiorentina
Relegated to Serie B
penalized 12 points for next season

AC Milan
Docked 44 points from last season's total
Out of Champions League
15-point deduction for next season

Juventus could lose the likes of Fabio Cannavaro, Gianluca Zambrotta, David Trezeguet and Zlatan Ibrahimovic and without European football, Milan could lose Pirlo, Gattuso, and Kaka. The vultures have been hovering around these clubs already. Real, Barca, ManUtd, Arsenal and many other clubs are looking at the situation. We can expect a lot more transfers in the next few weeks.

I pity these clubs and I feel bad that this might make the Champions League less interesting next season. But justice has been served.

I totally agree. Justice has been served. I wouldn't worry too much. Most of these players will go on season-long loans and return once their respective clubs have returned to Serie A...that is, if they can...30 point deduction is steep!

I second that. With many of the affected players being top-class professionals, it's a little demanding for them to adjust to the style of Serie B... and of course the infamy that carries along.

Now I've been wondering: Why are only the clubs being punished but not the players? I know of some Juve players who are allegedly involved but were not penalised at all.

I'm not being prejudiced or anything but is that justice being done?

I feel that the players and fans are getting penalized just because of the clubs getting demoted. However, the from the looks of it, it does look like the club officials are majorly responsible for whatever has happened.

I dont think there was conclusive proof for any involvement of any player...Buffon was supposed to have bet on matches before the law was changed.

So Dark, the Con of Man!

Yeah, if there had been proof abt the players being involved then i am sure action would have been taken. But then again maybe they did nt take action against Buffon and a few others because of the role they played in the WC.

Lucas ...if i were u i d be happy that Milan and Juve aint here. It ll be easier for ur team. going off topic here but i kinda fancy Real or Manu for UCL this season.

Real is finally building a 'team' this time around...so, they would have a good chance...ManU...i doubt abt it...they need to get at least 3 good players. Last heard, their target Viera is going to Inter.
