Even studs will do for Essien. He ll perform knee-surgery with that too. And then there is always the "my elbow ur face" manoeuvre .

The biggest gift for Souness wud have been to get confirmation from somewhere that robert is nt coming back. He can handle Bramble s pathetic defensive work but not robert.

What binoculars man? Are u referring to van persie s disallowed goal or the red that Senderos shud v seen.

Binoculars would be really useful for "I did not zee dat inzidant" Wenger. Anyway, i was just referring to Jose's comment on Wenger being a voyeur ;)

He he..like the z in place of s and c.. but actually wenger s english is pretty gud. There have been many french coaches here who cudnt talk in english at all...jean tigana, jacques santini..
I d rather listen to that than having to tolerate a scottish or yorkshire accent..
But then again, staying here for 8 years does help i guess.
Arsenal-manu coming up haan? Looking forward to it...
BTW, dude r u arvind,Srivats` friend?

Nope...am not Arvind.
Yep...looking fwd to Ars-ManU encounter...have a feeling that Ars will win this one and that'd possibly signal the end of the season. No way any team can catch Chelsea.

Wenger needs a binocular to reach out deep into the woods of some unknown french village to grab a raw teenager and bring him to England with the sobriquet of "New Vieira".Heard Vidic will be in England in time to face Gunners. With all possible hype like dubbing him as "the new stam"..I hope he makes the grade.Silvestre is/was and will be extra baggage for United. Please get rid of him asap.

I cannot see Gunners winning. It might be a draw or a united win. There is always 'something' to spur united on when it comes to playing against Arsenal.I am banking on that 'something' to help them get atleast a point out of their visit to North London.

Thats the media in europe for u..especially u.k..new stam? come on nw...
I hate to admit it but i am nt so sure abt the gunners winning agnst manu either. As mentioned, red devils always seem to do better agnst the gunners.I dont think Vidic will play ... it ll be tough for him at highbury and he ll get skinned by titi.I ll be happy with a draw.
It was great to hear that Flamini played well and also when was the last time the gaffer played 2 defensive midielders?flamini and silva..

Gilberto is out injured. Doing well against Portsmouth will take a bit of shine away from that performance even though it might have been good. I still feel Wenger should have brought in either Carrick or Jenas when they were available. They are better in terms of physique when compared to the guys in the present Arsenal engine room who are definitely not robust like Vieira. So the fact remains that the void is still to be filled. The same is ManU's cup of woe too.Who will they sign to replace Keane? And with the Ivory coast contingent off to African cup of nations, what will Wenger do?Just read the news that his prime defensive target Marco Caneira of Valencia has been laoned out to Sporting Lisbon. God save them the blushes!

Well Carrick wasnt bought because at that time paddy was around.
Jenas shud have been bought....I think we shud buy dacourt. He s quality and a real fighter..albeit a little old, plus he ll come for cheap and we all know how wenger wud like that:). If no1 is bought then we might see Sebastian Larsson and song against Guti and Gravesen pretty soon...

But i know what wenger ll do...get a couple of 7 year olds from beveren and spend the bulk of the 50 mill he has on some over-priced striker...:(

Well, cole wil be back by Jan end but with toure gone the already weak defense wil be weakened further.

Actually PV's replacement lined up at that time was Maniche Ribeiro, now almost in Chelski. It was a toss up between Carrick and Flamini.AW's only sane signing , in recent years, worth the money looks to be van Persie. Hleb was particularly pathetic at Villa Park. Let him invest in youngsters. But please sign some youngster who has already had a taste of top level competitive football. Why not someone like Rooney,Ronaldo,Robben who are just into their 20s and who were already well estabilished when they moved to their present clubs? I can visualise filling Bergkamp's boots next season. Dirk Kuyt(at 21 yrs, i guess he qualifies as an old man to AW!) has himself admitted that he wants Bergy's role in the Arsenal team. But Wenger will contemplate for eternity and ultimately promote Artur Lupoli. No disregard meant to the Italian though. But he ain't experienced. You have to be surreptitious like how Fergie has managed to be in signing Vidic. When there is mutual interest, you have to do all u can to grab a good player. And read something about PV being brought back to North London. Not a bad decision it would be if it is executed.

I think Hleb has a problem with ball distribution at the moment.I believe and importantly so does wenger, that he is class and that ll be evident in the near future.
Also, Wenger has a much better track record than SAF when it comes to signings. That can also be attributed to the fact that the gunners have had great scouts like Grimandi and Liam Brady. The fact that we almost signed Ronnie and Torres abt 5 years back speaks volumes...
Many of SAF s high profile and expensive signings like Veron,Kleberson,Forlan have been rather pathetic. In comparison, the only bad and expensive wenger signing that i can remember is Francis Jeffers.U can argue abt Reyes too but i ll give him some more time. There have been some poor signings like stepanovs and luzhny but they didnt cost much.
Coming to Kuyt,he plays for the Oranje pretty frequently i think so it wont be a bad signing.
Having said the above i have to agree that wenger shud invest on young but experienced blokes..

I can count my fingers when I ponder over who will replace Bergy. Obafemi Martins' role in Inter is exactly a carbon copy of what Bergy has been doing. Kuyt looks to be a strong lad and good in the air, a missing weapon in Arsenal's Arsenal.Except for Barcelona, all other top teams are atleast reasonably good when it comes to scoring/defending from set pieces. I noticed this thing in the game at Villa Park. Aston Villa did their best in not allowing the ball to pitch on the ground. And Gunners were playing most of the time trying to ground the ball rather than launching any surprise aerial attack to upset the opposition. Even the solitary corner that came their way, they came agonisingly close but goofed it,courtesy Kolo Toure's poor finishing off the foot this time. This is where Chelsea stands out. One chance at the later stages, they pounce on it. Not only Arsenal, but the entire chasing pack has been lacking this killer instinct. Terry's clinical finishing did Catalans in last time. There are so many examples. When will the chasing pack learn?

Hmmm...Arsenal could do with a few experienced players in the midfield. But it looks like it will be too late if Wenger decides to splash the cash on someone like Martins or Kuyt. Henry is certain to leave Arsenal. Last I heard was Wenger would let Henry leave only if he gets 20 million pounds + Eto'o...now, that's a foolish statement. Eto'o is on par with Henry in scoring goals and moreover, he has age on his side. If Laporta lets Eto'o leave, that would be the dumbest move ever. But of course, none can be as dumbass Perez!

BTW, the "new Stam" is not Vidic but Vlaar who was supposed to have signed for the Spurs but the move fell through.

Ah.. maybe I beat the English press by a whisker to this one. Once Vidic is seen training in old Trafford, they will surely give him sobriquet..the closest happens to be "New Stam" as his Manchester experience coupled with him being an aggressive Centre back(whatever I read from) will invite some fancy words from the never shuttable mouth of the English press.

If They can do something worthwhile in CFL like maybe, going till Semis..maybe Henry would decide against it.

A direct exchange between Eto'o and Henry will be apt. But you cannot overlook the fact that it is tough for strikers in EPL than in La Liga. So many spaniards cum La Liga imports have been injured for long, like Luque, Xabi Alonso, Kluivert, even Owen now. Morientes' flawless record of scoring in all his debut games was broken in England. So one cannot completely dismiss Wenger's expectations of some more money with Eto'o although 20 million is too much..

Henry is sure to rock La Liga. For Henry, my favourite all-round footballer,I will be really happy to switch complete allegiance towards Barcelona who are already playing the most enthralling football, the one for which I used to like Real Madrid.

Henry has all is required to do it. But I doubt some emotional factor like missing Vieira and Wenger might hamper his performance at Camp Nou. But on paper, for me , both Eto'o and Henry are equal.
